In June of 1984, Roberto Duran & Thomas Hearns matched up in a light middle weight bout

Duran, was less than a year removed from losing to middle weight champion, Marvin Hagler. In an attempt to regain some light on his career, he decided to drop down in weight to take on a young & hungry Thomas Hearns.

Hearns, having only 1 defeat on his record to Sugar Ray Leonard, was at his peak. In hopes of getting Marvin Hagler into a match, he had to send a clear message of just how dangerous of a fighter he was.

The bout was stopped in the 2nd round, when Hearns knocked out Duran in vicious fashion. Since Hagler took Duran to decision in their bout prior, Hearns sent a clear message of just what he expected to do
